The real difference
Shotover Jet publishes about 25 minutes on the water, with narrow canyon walls, shallow water and 360-degree spins. Its river base is less than a ten-minute drive from Queenstown; using the shuttle makes the whole outing longer. The operator advertises exclusive access to the Shotover canyons.
The longer KJet route publishes 60 minutes across Lake Wakatipu and the Kawarau and Shotover rivers. It leaves from Queenstown’s Main Town Pier, which is simpler if you are staying centrally. The experience covers more distance and varied water; it does not spend the whole hour inside the narrow Shotover canyons.
